CAB Cakaran Plans Poultry JV In Indonesia

  • Integrated poultry producer CAB Cakaran Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Salim Group of Indonesia for the purpose of establishing a fully integrated poultry business in Indonesia.
  • The MOU was a formal confirmation of both parties’ intention to study the possibilities of embarking on a joint venture (JV) that would lead to the signing of a JV agreement.
  • CAB’s role in the planned JV will be to provide the whole technical and knowhow aspect of the production department, research and development and total supply chain while Salim will be responsible for applications to the regulators as well as local operations matter.

Significance: The MOU is valid for 12 months or until the execution of a valid JV agreement. If the parties were to proceed with a JV, it was said that Salim and CAB will initially hold a 90 percent and 10 percent stake respectively in the JV firm, with CAB having the option to increase its shareholding up to 30 percent in the next three years after the initial set-up.
