Creative Technology reported a 52.9% expansion in FY15 net loss to US$33.4m, after revenue took a hit (down 14.5%), due to the uncertain and difficult market conditions, which affected product sales. A 140.1% leap in other gains to US$9.6m, mainly from the disposal of investments, was offset by other losses which surged to US$16.8m, mainly attributed to foreign exchange loss and impairment loss on investments, weighing further on bottom line.

GRP’s FY15 net profit was down 69.5% to $0.8m due to lower revenue and higher expenses. Revenue dipped 9.6% to $24.5m due to decline in contribution from the hose and marine, as well as uPVC fittings segments, which were partially offset by better performance from its measuring instrument segment. Coupled with a 28.7% expansion in administrative expenses to $6.5m, profitability was dealt a heavy blow for FY15.

Kingsmen Creatives accepted an offer from JTC Corporation to acquire approximately 5,251 sqm of vacant leasehold land at Changi Business Park for $7.1m. The group intends to construct a multi-storey building to serve as their new headquarters in anticipation of the additional space required to accommodate future expansion of operations. Acquiring the land will enable better planning and manage the expansion of operations and remove rental pressure.

Midas Holdings’ subsidiary, Jilin Midas Aluminium Industries Co, has secured 3 supply contracts totalling Rmb66.7m. 2 contracts, awarded by Changchun Railway Vehicles Co and slated for delivery in 2015, involve the supply of aluminium alloy extrusion profiles and fabricated parts for high-speed trains, worth Rmb31.1m, as well as for the Singapore Downtown Line, worth Rmb10.5m. The third contract, awarded by Nanjing SR Puzhen Rail Transport worth Rmb25.1m, involves the supply of aluminium alloy extrusion profiles and fabricated parts for the Nanjing Metro Ninghe Intercity Line, with delivery scheduled between 2015 and 2016.

Oxley Holdings recorded a 78.7% dive in FY15 net profit to $60.9m. The fall in profitability was attributable to the 34.7% decrease in FY15 turnover to $701.8m coupled with various rises in operating expenses. Marketing and distribution costs were up twofold to $13.1m and finance costs increased 25.3%. Despite being partially offset by lower administrative expenses and a higher share of profit from equity accounted joint venture, earnings were still dragged down significantly.

Sembcorp Industries’ wholly-owned entity, China Water Company (Zhumadian) has completed the divestment of its entire 51% stake in Zhumadian China Water Co to Beijing Enfei Environmental Protection. The consideration of the divestment was Rmb90m (approximately $19.5m) based on fair value of the asset. Following the divestment, Zhumadian China Water Co, which runs a municipal water facility in Henan, has ceased to be part of the group.

Silverlake Axis announced a 13.6% rise in FY15 net profit as turnover inched up 3.1%. Revenue increased due to higher contribution from maintenance and enhancement services and insurance processing, while gross profit gained 9.9% as gross profit margin improved 4 percentage points to 65.3% due to a change in revenue mix. The group’s performance was further boosted by the recognition of an accounting gain of Rm19.2m on dilution of interest in an associate, Global InfoTech Co.

Tiong Woon Corporation Holding  reported a 45.8% drop in FY15 net profit to $12.1m, due to an 11.9% reduction in turnover, on the back of an overall decline in contributions across all business segments, brought about by a reduction of projects executed in the financial year. Other operating expenses were reduced by 17.3% to $28.1m in tandem with the decrease in turnover as well as through manpower rationalisation and job re-design by the company.
