The Straits Times Index (STI) traded at 3,408.39, up 3.82 points (0.11 percent) from previous close, at mid-day. The market traded on moderate volume of 499.1 million shares traded with 161 gainers and 147 losers as of 12:10pm.

Notable gainers were AVIC, China Sports, Starland, Albedo and Samko Timber, with AVIC leading the pack.

Notable losers were Ziwo, SunMoonFood, WE, Plastoform and Oceanus, with Ziwo leading the pack.

Triyards Holdings has secured contracts for two ice-class multi-purpose support vessels (MPSV) and a turret fabrication job worth over US$100 million. Year-to-date, the firm has added almost US$180 million in new orders and the new MPSV contracts will extend its earnings visibility beyond FY16.

Yongnam Holdings’ subsidiary, Yongnam Engineering & Construction has formed a 51:49 joint venture (JV) with Jian Huang Construction Co, and the JV has inked a $159 million contract for the JTC Food Hub @ Senoko. The project, which is expected to commence this month, involves the building and development of a new seven-storey ramp-up development in the Senoko Food Zone and is slated for completion in 1H17.
