The Straits Times Index (STI) closed up 26.77 point (0.82 percent) at 3,308.72. The market traded on moderate volume of 123.59 million shares traded with 212 gainers and 121 losers as of 12:25pm.

Notable gainers were China Essence, Next-Gen Sat, Magnus Energy, Jasper Inv and JES Intl, with China Essence leading the pack.

Notable losers were Cedar Strategic, S i2i, Moya Asia, Dapai Intl and Elektromotive, with Cedar Strategic leading the pack.

Keppel Corporation’s wholly owned specialised shipbuilder Keppel Singmarine has secured two contracts worth over $65 million. The first contract was awarded by Seaways International to build a fifth multi-task anchor handling tug vessel to be completed in 2Q16. The second contract was awarded by Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine, a joint venture between Qatar’s premier gas shipper Nakilat and Keppel Offshore & Marine, to provide technical services for the construction of a liftboat, the first job of its kind undertaken by Keppel Singmarine.

Singapore Shipping Corporation has entered into a US$16.5 million seven-year term loan financing facility with an unnamed leading Japanese financial institution. The term loan will be used to finance the acquisition of a pure car truck carrier vessel scheduled for delivery by January 2015.
