CapitaLand’s 2Q14 revenue fell 13.2% to $875.3m, mainly attributable to lower revenue from the group’s development projects in Singapore and China. However, on the back of a higher other operating income, arising from the fair value gain on investment properties combined with a decrease in other operating expenses, net profit rose 14.5% to $438.7m. For the 6-month period, revenue dropped 9.4% to $1.5b while net profit advanced 9.2% to $621.5m.

ComfortDelGro Corporation’s subsidiary, ComfortDelGro Cabcharge (CDC), has acquired assets including 3 depots and a fleet of 101 buses and coaches of the Blue Mountains Bus Company (BMBC) for a consideration of $30.8m. BMBC currently operates an Outer Metropolitan Bus Services contract in the Blue Mountains region, which joins the Western fringe of metropolitan Sydney. The acquisition will enable CDC to expand its bus operations in New South Wales, where it already operates around 1,000 buses.

Global Logistic Properties reported an 18% jump in revenue to US$169.3m in 1Q15, mainly due to the completion and stabilisation of development projects in China with increasing rents, inclusion of a newly acquired portfolio in Brazil and higher dividend income from GLP J-REIT. However, due to a 3-fold increase in net finance costs, partially offset by a higher positive change in fair value of investment properties, net profit slid 12% to US$179.4m in 1Q15.

Noble Group’s subsidiary, Noble Jade B.V, acquired a 70% stake in Danube Shipping-Stevedoring Company (DSSC) for US$21.7m, lower than its fair value of US$23.6m. DSSC is incorporated in Ukraine and owns land and loading facilities in the port of Mykolaiv that can be used for the transshipment of agriculture commodities. This acquisition will be the first phase of an origination platform and pipeline that will supply the group with up to 3m metric tonnes of grains and oilseeds per annum.

Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation registered a 54.3% surge in net profit to $921m in 2Q14, underpinned by higher net interest income, strong non-interest income growth, mark-to-market gains in the insurance business and continued cost discipline. For 1H14, the group achieved a record net profit of $1.8b, a y-o-y increase of 40.8%, driven by healthy business momentum across all customer-related businesses.

Sembcorp Marine achieved a 19.3% increase in turnover to $1.3b in 2Q14, on the back of higher income recognition for rig building projects. Coupled with a higher share of results from associates and joint ventures, partially offset by an increase in finance costs, net profit was up 5.4% to $131.6m in 2Q14. Similarly, for 1H14, revenue and net profit rose 23.1% and 4.3% respectively, to $2.7b and $254.1m.

Singapore Post’s 1Q15 revenue climbed 4.8% y-o-y to $210.9m, underpinned by growth in ecommerce related activities, offset by declines in the traditional postal business. Miscellaneous income of $6.3m compared to $0.3m in 1Q14 was registered, due to a $4.2m gain on sale of property, plant and equipment and foreign exchange gain. Though the increase in turnover and other income was partially offset by an increase in total expenses, earnings still rose 5.1% to $39.2m.

StarHub reported a 1.8% decline in revenue to $576.4m in 2Q14, as a result of lower service revenue, mainly from the broadband business, which contracted 17.2% y-o-y. Coupled with a lower other income and with expenses relatively flat, net profit for the quarter fell 6.3% to $94.3m. For the 6-month period, revenue and net profit decreased 1.6% and 6.9% respectively, to $1.1b and $178.5m.
