Hu An Cable Holdings’ chairman and CEO Dai Zhi Xiang has purchased an additional 6.1m of the company’s shares from the open market, raising his stake in the company from 17% to 17.6%. Dai commented that he is positive about China’s growth potential despite current market conditions and is confident about the prospects of the company. The company’s backlog currently stands at Rmb900m.

Innopac Holdings proposed a rights issue on the basis of 2 new shares and 1 detachable warrant for every existing share. The company intends to issue up to 6.9b new shares at an issue price of $0.01 per share and up to 3.5b free detachable warrants at an exercise price of $0.012. The expected proceeds of $68.9m after deducting expenses will be used to fund the company’s expansion and growth plans.

ISDN Holdings’ hydropower business is expected to be a beneficiary from the Indonesian government’s recent upward revision of electricity tariff rates paid to mini-hydropower developers. The Indonesian energy authority will increase the amount paid to electricity producers with capacity of 10 megawatts or less from the current base rate of IDR656 (US$0.06) to IDR1,075 (US$0.09) per kilowatt-hour.

Nam Cheong inked a deal with Perdana Petroleum (Perdana) worth a total of US$84m ($105m) for the sale of 2 units of accommodation work barges (AWB), with the option for Perdana to purchase another 2 vessels. With the new contract, the company’s order book stands at approximately RM1.5b ($581.7m).

Novo Group has reported a 5.8% y-o-y increase of revenue to US$74m in 4Q14. Due to pilot production cost incurred by the new Jiangsu tinplate manufacturing plant, the group reported a gross loss of US$1m in 4Q14 as compared to gross profit of US$2.3m in 4Q13. The group reported an 87.8% y-o-y increase in net losses to US$6.5m in 4Q14, driven mainly by higher finance and administrative costs. Net losses spiked 136.9% to US$13.2m in FY14.

Olam International has formed a 20:80 partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) to grow its Australian grains business. MC will invest US$64m for an 80% stake in Olam Grains Australia (OGA) and the transaction is expected to be completed in early FY15.

Soilbuild Construction Group’s subsidiary, Soil-Build, secured a $38.6m contract by Pepperl+Fuchs (Manufacturing) for the construction of a 5-storey global distribution center at Pioneer Turn. Construction will commence in June 2014 and is expected to complete by the 3Q15. This marks the fifth construction contract won by the company in 2014 and updates the company’s book order to $531.5m.

Universal Resource and Services’ subsidiary, SKY Petroleum Technology Development (Tianjin) (SKY (Tianjin)) has entered into a contract to purchase Rmb232.5m worth of “measuring while drilling equipment” (MWDs), financed by the group’s internal resources. At the same time, SKY (Tianjin) inked 2 new equipment leases to lease out all new MWDs purchased in the contract.

Wilmar International has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Repi Soap and Detergent S. The joint venture includes plans to upgrade an existing manufacturing facility in Kolfe Karenio Sub City and to build an integrated manufacturing complex in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. The new complex will consist of an edible oil refinery and packaging plant, production plants for specialty fats, soaps and detergent as well as a sesame seed processing facility.
