    DBS Group Holdings (Target Price:$19.01)

  • DBS posted a 1Q14 net adjusted earnings of $1.03 billion which beat analysts’ expectations by 14 percent on non-interest income and flat provisions
  • Loans growth remained on track at two percent q-o-q, Net Interest Margin (NIM) jumped 5bp to 1.66 percent and net interest income rose two percent. Non-interest income leaped 76 percent q-o-q on the back of strong treasury customer flows

    Keppel Corp (Target Price:$13.20)

  • Keppel’s investment in Baku Shipyard, Azerbaijan, since September 13 is yielding fruit with a US$378 million contract from BP Exploration. By having two yards in Azerbaijan – Baku Shipyard and Caspian Shipyard Co, Keppel is ahead of its competitors with no presence in the region and who may miss out on bidding because of the lack of proximity.
  • Keppel’s order win YTD stands at $1.9 billion, with its order book at $14.4 billion.
  • Strong margins and order wins are the key catalysts.

  • Existing stronghold in Thailand as steady income pillar. Substantial market share and good pricing power and branding in Thailand.
  • Unfazed by political turmoil in Thailand ThaiBev’s revenue grew by 2.4 percent and 12.4 percent in 2009 and 2010 respectively despite bouts of prolonged political unrests.
  • Exploiting synergies with F&N to become a regional F&B force. Reasons being, an enlarged distribution network waiting to be tapped upon, more diversified products to capture different tastes and income level, and a large war chest for marketing, capacity expansion etc.
