Singapore Technologies Engineering posted a 12.4% rise in turnover for the quarter ended 31 December 2013 to $1.9b, as contributions from all segments, except Land System, increased. In particular, the marine division enjoyed a surge in shipbuilding activities. Consequently, net profit gained 10.1% to $167.5m. For the 12-month period, turnover jumped 4% to $6.6b while bottom line inched up 0.8% to $580.8m.

Thai Beverage’s 4Q13 revenue came in 7.9% higher at THB44.7b, bolstered by higher income from its spirits and food businesses, partially offset by a dip in beer and non-alcoholic beverages segments. Coupled with a near-threefold jump in share of profit of associates, earnings surged 91.5% to THB6.7b. For the full year, revenue dipped 3.3% to THB155.8b while net profit tumbled 32.9% to THB19.b in absence of a THB12.7b gain on purchase of investment in associate recorded in FY12. Excluding the gain, earnings would have rose 21% instead.

Cordlife Group signs strategic alliance agreement with Cordlabs Asia and China Cord Blood Corporation for the provision of human postnatal umbilical cord tissue storage services to certain territories in the People’s Republic of China. The strategic alliance shall be for an initial period of three years and may be extended.

Jardine Cycle & Carriage (Jardine C&C) revenue for the three months ended 31 December 2013 fell 5.1% to US$4.7b. However, an improved gross profit margin from 10.6% to 13.3% as well as better performances from share of associates’ and joint ventures’ results enabled Jardine C&C to post net profit of US$240.4m, 57.9% higher than a year earlier. For the full year, both revenue and earnings narrowed 8.1% and 7.2% to US$19.8b and US$915m respectively.

Genting Hong Kong via its subsidiary, Star NCLC agreed to sell 7.5m Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) shares through a block trade. Upon completion, Star NCLC will have disposed an aggregate 31.7m NCLH shares till date, representing 27.7% of the total outstanding share capital of NCLH.

Global Logistic Properties establishes strategic partnership with COFCO to build a modern national food logistics network to meet demand arising from growing domestic consumption and increased emphasis on food quality and safety in China.

Sembcorp Marine bagged US$1.1b in contracts from a subsidiary of Transocean to build two drillships with options for three additional drillships and are slated for delivery in 2Q17 and 1Q18.

Lifebrandz proposed a private share placement to raise $3.4m after deducting expenses, where the net proceeds will be used for working capital as well as to repay a shareholder’s loan of $0.5m. The issue price of each placement share is $0.0081 and represents a discount of 10% to the volume weighted average price of $0.009 per share on 21 February 2014. The private placement will represent 16.6% of the company’s enlarged share capital.

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (Holdings) has acquired the remaining 45.53% in the share capital of Jiangsu Runzhou Heavy Industry (JRHI) for a purchase consideration of US$5.5m. By taking full control of JRHI, the company will be able to enjoy the benefits of reduced costs from steel structure, paint surface preparation of steel and coating business required by its shipbuilding business.

Keppel Corporation obtained a contract from TS Offshore, to construct an ultra-high specification jackup rig worth about US$500m. Utilising the firm’s proprietary KFELS N Plus-designed rig, the rig is able to work in the deepest depths for the jack-up rig type. Including contract win, Keppel’s total new orders secured year-to-date stands at US$1.6b.
