Jun-13, Co formed a consortium with KBZ Group & Myanmar Telephone Co, coming up with a proposal that details its plans to develop the telecom industry in Myanmar. The consortium is committed to bldg a world-class mobile network, which will cover 95% of Myanmar population in 36 mths. May-13, Co's Australian arm Optus unveiled its network plans for the coming yr, including the roll out of Australia's first multi-band 4G network & expansion of its 4G network coverage to over 70% of the Australian metropolitan population by mid-2014.
FY13 Lower revenue from Optus & negative currency translation dragged revenue down 3.4%. Higher depreciation charges, acq'n cost of digital biz & exceptional losses compounded the situation. As a result, earnings declined 12%. 4Q13 earnings was up 5% q-o-q due to a 4.4% points improvement in EBITDA margin on seasonally lower selling costs in Australia. (12/06/13-HX)
