May-16, 4Q16 net profit was flat as currency fluctuations offset increasing mobile data usage by Co's customers. Factoring out currency movements, earnings would have gained 4%. Operating revenue for 1Q16 fell 5.6% due to reduced mobile termination rates in Australia & lower handset sales in S'pore. For FY16, earnings edged up 2.4% despite a 1.5% decline in operating revenue.
Feb-16, 3Q16 net profit slipped 1.7%, on the back of adverse currency fluctuations & investments, both in spectrum & core capabilities, despite a 1.1% gain in operating revenue. For 9M16, net profit rose 2.9% while operating revenue remained flat. Co noted that its sustained network & spectrum investments will help position it to capture exponential data growth but will impact free cash flow in the near term.
